Robbie Keane has revealed that he refused LA Galaxy's request for him to return to the club from international duty.
The striker scored during the Republic of Ireland's 4-0 win over Estonia on Friday night and is currently preparing for the home meeting between the two sides tomorrow evening.
Galaxy wanted the 31-year-old to head back the USA after the first match but Keane has insisted that he never had any intention of doing so.
"They requested for me to come back, but this could be one of the greatest moments in Irish history," said Keane. "The country means everything to me, I would never not turn up.
"For me this is probably one of the proudest moments."
Keane joined Galaxy in August from Tottenham Hotspur.
