Sheffield United skipper Michael Doyle has committed his future to the League One outfit until 2015.
The midfielder moved to Bramall Lane from Coventry City in January 2011 and has developed into a key player for the Blades, being rewarded by manager Danny Wilson with the club captaincy last season.
"I spoke to the manager in pre-season and he mentioned about the possibility of extending my stay and I was more than happy to discuss," said Doyle.
"I had a great time last season, it was the most enjoyable in my career to date, it was unfortunate the way it ended, but I feel I can play my part in getting this club back into the Championship at the very least.
"I enjoy coming to work and working with my boss, the people throughout the club have made this feel like home and I was only too happy to extend my stay until 2015 – hopefully, if I am fit and healthy, the club will still want me beyond this deal."
Doyle, 31, made 50 starts for United last season on their run to the League One playoff final.
