Preview: Sheffield Wednesday vs. Wigan Athletic

Sports Mole looks ahead to Wednesday's night's Championship game in-hand between Sheffield Wednesday and Wigan Athletic.

Wigan Athletic play their third match in six days when they travel to Sheffield Wednesday for their Championship game in-hand on Wednesday night.

The Latics exited the Europa League by losing at Slovenian side Maribor on Thursday, before ending a run of four straight league defeats with victory over Bolton Wanderers in Uwe Rosler's first home game in charge on Sunday.

Now they travel to Hillsborough to face a Sheffield Wednesday side who have won two of their three games since parting company with manager Dave Jones.

Caretaker manager Stuart Gray is making a case to be given the permanent job and victory on Wednesday will move the Owls out of the relegation zone.

Neither manager has any fresh injury or suspension worries and could start similar sides to those that played at the weekend after wins for both teams.

It is a first meeting between the two sides in the league. They last met in the FA Cup in January 1978 when Wigan won 1-0.
