Alex Pritchard excited after returning to Tottenham Hotspur training

Alex Pritchard admits that he is excited about earning a spot in the Tottenham Hotspur squad after returning from injury for the club's Under-21 side.

Alex Pritchard has revealed that he already has one eye on impressing for Tottenham Hotspur after making his return from injury with the club's Under-21 side.

An injured ankle wrecked Pritchard's chances of a full pre-season schedule on his return to North London from Brentford, but he was back in action on Monday, scoring twice in a 45-minute cameo as Tottenham's youngsters beat Everton 4-1.

Mauricio Pochettino is expected to include the 22-year-old in his first-team plans for this season, and Pritchard admits that he is excited about regaining full fitness.

"It's always good to get back out there and play proper football, especially with the younger lads," the attacking midfielder told the club's website. "It was my first full training session on Sunday so to get 45 minutes under my belt was good to kick on after the weekend.

"The main thing is to get minutes in because I haven't played any matches in pre-season so to come back, get the game time and then to score two goals to help the team win is obviously a plus.

"I've been grafting for a while now and hopefully that will help me get into the squad. I'm ready to kick on now."

Pritchard, who has made just one appearance in the Premier League, scored 12 goals for Brentford last season.
