Tottenham Hotspur are handed an injury scare with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, who is ruled out of Denmark's World Cup 2022 qualifier with the Faroe Islands due to injury.

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has been ruled out of Denmark's World Cup 2022 qualifier with the Faroe Islands due to injury.

The former Southampton man established himself as a key player under Nuno Espirito Santo and is also expected to form an integral part of Antonio Conte's team in North London.

Hojbjerg linked up with the Denmark squad for November's international break, but he is now facing a race to be fit for next Monday's battle with Scotland due to injury.

A tweet from the Danish Football Federation read: "Due to an injury, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg will unfortunately miss the match against the Faroe Islands on Friday. We hope to get him to the match against Scotland next week."

Conte will already have to make do without Oliver Skipp against Leeds United on November 21 due to suspension, with Tanguy Ndombele and Giovani Lo Celso providing alternative midfield options.

Hojbjerg has played every minute of Premier League football so far for Spurs this term, chalking up one goal and one assist in that time.
