Alan Pardew wary of Tottenham Hotspur revenge

Alan Pardew warns his Newcastle side that Spurs will be out to avenge their recent Premier League defeat when the sides meet in December for a League Cup quarter-final.

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew believes that Tottenham Hotspur will be out for revenge when the sides meet in the quarter-final of the Capital One Cup.

The Magpies booked their spot in the last eight with a surprise 2-0 victory away to defending champions Manchester City to earn the shock result of the round.

Newcastle now face Spurs at White Hart Lane in December and, having just won away to the Lilywhites on Sunday, Pardew warns that Mauricio Pochettino's side will be out to avenge that defeat.

"They'll be fired up for us coming back after getting a win there, but if we're going to win this competition we're going to have to do it the hard way," he told Sky Sports News.

"We've done an outstanding job tonight and that's really what I want to talk about."

The last-eight encounter in North London will either take place on December 16 or December 17.
