FA chairman David Bernstein has heaped praised on Harry Redknapp.
The Tottenham Hotspur boss is the odds-on favourite to become England's next permanent manager and Bernstein has hinted that Redknapp would be an ideal candidate.
Bernstein said: "I am not concerned about the hype making Harry favourite, we are in the real world.
"We understand that, because Harry has done amazingly as Spurs manager and he is English."
Bernstein went on to suggest that the 64-years-old's age may make him better suited to international management.
He added: "There aren't 38 league matches and ten cup games plus Europe [each year]. So you could say the England job is even more suited in some ways to an older person than club management, where the demands are absolutely incessant.
"But we want to get the right person and do it the right way, so we will be proactive. We will listen, so we will be reactive as well."
Bernstein has been the FA chairman since January 2011, when he replaced Lord Triesman.
