Steve McClaren believes that Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp should succeed Fabio Capello with England.

Steve McClaren believes that the Football Association should appoint Harry Redknapp as the next England manager.

Current coach Fabio Capello has made it known that he intends to quit the position following the conclusion of Euro 2012.

Redknapp is currently one of the favourites to claim the role and McClaren has insisted that the Tottenham Hotspur boss "fits the bill".

"Harry's credentials are as good as anybody else's," said McClaren.

"I say the England manager has to be experienced, he has to have European experience, and he has to have won something. Harry fits the bill in all of those."

McClaren, 50, managed the Three Lions between 2006 and 2007.
