Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy reportedly refused to begin contract negotiations with Harry Redknapp before parting company with the manager.
The North London outfit confirmed the departure of the 65-year-old this morning, which is believed to have left Redknapp in slight shock considering the former Portsmouth boss was keen to stay at White Hart Lane.
The ex-Southampton coach is now believed to be open to taking up a new job in football between now and the new season, according to Sky Sports News.
Redknapp reportedly sought out his assistants at Spurs, which included Joe Jordan, Kevin Bond and Clive Allen, to inform them of the club's decision.
