Stoke City manager Tony Pulis has described Wednesday's 2-1 win over Newcastle United as a "great victory" for his side.
Papiss Cisse put the Magpies ahead at the Britannia Stadium, but late goals from Jonathan Walters and Cameron Jerome gave the Potters their second win in a row.
"Although they have players missing they are still a good side and it is a great victory for us, we showed great character," said Pulis.
"We missed a couple of really good opportunities to go in front and when they score you have to show a lot of character to get back in the game and then go on and win it."
Stoke are now up to ninth place in the Premier League table.
