New Sunderland signing Victor Anichebe has claimed that he is looking forward to playing alongside Jermain Defoe up front.
The 28-year-old signed a one-year deal with the Black Cats on Friday as part of a free transfer.
The former West Bromwich Albion player, who worked under manager David Moyes at Everton, is hopeful of learning from Defoe.
"I was speaking to JD before - everyone knows he's such a great player," Anichebe told the club's official website. "We played against Sunderland last season and I was watching from the side, just watching Defoe, his movement.
"He is so strong for a small guy and you know when he gets a chance he's either going to hit the target or score. I told him that he's one of the reasons I came here because I feel I can learn a lot from him."
Defoe is 10th in the Premier League's top goalscorers list.
