Swansea City have appointed Pep Clotet to help boost the club's youth development programme, with the former Espanyol and Malaga coach being given the title of academy consultant at the Liberty Stadium.
The move is the first time the club has decided to invest in a European coach for such an integral academy role, with Welshman Tony Pennock currently serving as head of youth at Swansea.
"I have been appointed to help develop the way Swansea play football throughout the academy structure," Clotet told the club's official website.
"It is vital that the academy produces players able to perform in the Premier League in a style the club has been developing over the last seven or eight years.
"I have been very impressed with what I've seen over the last few weeks. The club is all united in not only developing the first team for the present, but also the whole club for the future."
Swansea travel to face Fulham this weekend as the sides meet in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
