Andre Gomes: 'Whistles do not help'

Valencia midfielder Andre Gomes criticises the club's supporters that have aimed whistles at the team thus far this season.

Valencia midfielder Andre Gomes has criticised the sections of the Los Che support that have whistled the team this season.

Nuno's side entered the international break off the back of a 5-1 win at Celta Vigo, but have largely made a slow start to the new campaign.

Gomes has said that 'it is normal that the crowd is a little uneasy', but has admitted that criticism from the supporters does not help the team.

"It's normal the crowd is a little uneasy. When you play at home with your fans, I understand they want more and more, but so do we. Sometimes we make a mistake on the pitch because we want to go forward and things don't work out as we hoped," he told Marca.

"When you hear whistles you ask yourself how it would be if [the fans] were with you. It's a bit odd. The players and the coach are strong.

"What we want is to turn around the situation and we are a united group to achieve our goals. Of course, if the fans were always with us, nothing would be better than that for everyone."

Valencia currently sit seventh in La Liga on 18 points, three points off the top four.
