Juan Martin del Potro says that he has to be good at the net to beat the world's top tennis players.

World number seven Juan Martin del Potro believes that the key to beating the top players lies at the net.

The Argentine - who won the US Open in 2010 - revealed that he has been working on his volleying technique, but is still comfortable from the baseline.

"I'm working on my volley, but I'm confident playing on the baseline with forehands and backhands," said the 24-year-old.

"But I know the way to beat the top guys is going to the net all the time, but I'm not playing against them yet."

Del Potro faces Jeremy Chardy in the third round of the Australian Open.
