The world number three goes into the tournament having successfully defended his Brisbane Open title after a straight-sets victory over Grigor Dimitrov.

Elsewhere, Djokovic, who is bidding for his third consecutive Australian Open title, is ranked as the top seed, while Roger Federer is second.
