Simona Halep has expressed her delight at reaching her first Grand Slam final after beating Andrea Petkovic in the French Open semi-finals today.
The Romanian cruised to a straight-sets victory over Petkovic in just 90 minutes to book a clash with 2012 winner Maria Sharapova on Saturday.
"It's very emotional to win and reach my first Grand Slam final," she told reporters.
"I tried my best and did everything I could to win the match. Andrea's a great player, but I think I was a little bit stronger."
Sharapova, meanwhile, survived a sterner test to seal her passage to the final after coming from behind to beat Eugenie Bouchard in just under two-and-a-half hours.
