Judy Murray has described her appointment as Great Britain's Fed Cup captain as a "huge honour".
The Scot has taken over the role from Nigel Sears, who was involved in the selection process to choose Murray.
"It is a huge honour, a huge thrill and a huge challenge," she told BBC Radio Five Live. "I know all of the girls pretty well, especially Elena Baltacha.
"There's more strength in depth in the women's game than the men's game. It's an exciting time."
Murray, mother of world number four Andy Murray, will take charge of the team for the first time in the Euro/Africa Zone Group I competition that runs February 1-4 in Israel.
