Dan Evans has been eliminated at the second-round stage of the Winston-Salem Open after losing out in three sets to Richard Gasquet.
The British number one competed well against the three-time Grand Slam semi-finalist before going down by a 6-4 4-6 6-3 scoreline.
Evans missed three chances to break Gasquet in the opening game of the match but although he was forced to save eight of his own, he was ultimately made to pay as the Frenchman struck towards the end of the set.
However, Evans broke twice to take the match in the decider but he could not maintain his form and a single break was enough for Gasquet to take the final set.
Fellow British representatives Kyle Edmund and Aljaz Bedene both reached the last 16 with wins over Rajeev Ram and James McGee respectively.
