Jo-Wilfried Tsonga: 'I can beat Andy Murray'

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga insists that he is capable of knocking home favourite Andy Murray out of Wimbledon.

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga has insisted that he is capable of beating Andy Murray after being drawn against the Briton in the quarter-finals of Wimbledon.

Although the Frenchman is positioned 10 places below the Scot in the ATP Rankings, he is upbeat about his prospects ahead of the last-eight showdown.

"That's why tennis is great. Two days ago I was 5-5 in the third set, 15-40 against me, two sets to love down, and I came back. I'm still alive in this tournament," Tsonga told reporters.

"Everything can happen in tennis. I'm very confident of my capacity to play great tennis and beat players like Andy."

Tsonga was gifted passage into the quarters after Richard Gasquet was forced to retire through injury in their fourth-round meeting.
