Heather Watson loses 6-3 6-0 to Louisa Chirico in the first round of the Washington Open.

Heather Watson has been knocked out of the Washington Open after losing her first-round tie to Louisa Chirico.

The 23-year-old was beaten 6-3 6-0 by her American opponent, who is ranked 128th in the world.

The match was Watson's first since losing to Serena Williams in the third round at Wimbledon last month.

Watson is the current British number one and is ranked 54th in the world.
