Novak Djokovic beats Andy Murray in straight sets

Serbia's Novak Djokovic knocks defending champion Andy Murray out of the Miami Masters in straight sets in the quarter-finals.

Andy Murray has been beaten in straight sets in the quarter-finals at the Miami Masters, losing 7-5 6-3 to Novak Djokovic.

There was little between the two players in the opening set as they shared the opening 10 games, although the British number one did have a chance to break at 4-4.

It looked like the set would be heading to a tie-break, but a brief lapse of concentration by the defending champion allowed the world number two to seal the opener with a break.

The Wimbledon champion looked to have made a bright start in the second as he got the better of Djokovic's serve early on, but the Serb quickly levelled.

Murray, who has been struggling to return to full fitness since undergoing back surgery towards the end of 2013, could not keep up with his opponent late on, allowing Djokovic to clinch another break and swiftly wrap up the second, ensuring that the Brit will drop to eighth in the world rankings next week.

Djokovic will face either Kei Nishikori or Roger Federer in the last four.
