Kei Nishikori has continued his surprise run at the Shanghai Masters, easing past Alexander Dolgopolov in straight sets.
The 21-year-old defeated world number eight Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the second round before seeing off Santiago Giraldo in round three.
Dolgopolov, the world number 18, made too many errors and his trademark forehand and backhand slices had little effect on the patient Nishikori as one break was enough to take the first set 6-4.
The game continued in a similar vein in the second and the young Japanese star wrapped up the set 6-3 to progress.
The world number 47 will now face either Australian qualifier Matthew Ebden or Britain's Andy Murray in Saturday's semi-final.
