Mikel Arteta believes that Manchester City are favourites for the Premier League title.

Arsenal midfielder Mikel Arteta believes that Manchester City are firm favourites to retain their Premier League title in the 2012-13 season.

Roberto Mancini's side pipped Manchester United to the title on the final day of last season, winning the championship on goal difference, while Arsenal finished third.

City and Arsenal will face off in Beijing in a pre-season friendly on Friday, and prior to the clash Arteta admits that the Citizens will be the team to beat next season.

"I think Manchester City would be the favourite team in next EPL season," said the 30-year-old.

"If we could beat them in Beijing, it would be a bright start for a new season.

"Anyway, Arsenal also has a big chance to fight for the title, if we could show our abilities totally, we could overcome any rivals."

Arsenal will start their Premier League campaign against Sunderland at the Emirates, while City will begin their title defence with a home game against Southampton.
