Arsenal's Laurent Koscielny questions quality of Leicester City's Wes Morgan

Arsenal centre-back Laurent Koscielny questions the quality of Leicester City defender Wes Morgan.

Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny has suggested that Leicester City captain Wes Morgan would not be good enough to play at the back for a top-four team, despite winning the Premier League title.

The 32-year-old lifted Leicester's first ever top-flight title in May, and was named in the Premier League's team of the season.

Koscielny and his Arsenal teammates finished 10 points behind the Foxes, but the France international has questioned whether Morgan could be deemed a better defender than himself.

When asked by L'Equipe what he believes makes a renowned centre-back, Koscielny said: "Winning titles? I do not know. Maybe, Leicester became champions and Morgan was in the Premier League's best XI of the season. Is he better than me? Could he play for a top-four team?

"There are some who are made more to play in teams who play deep that you would not put in another team, with an average line.

"Despite that, it is true that defenders at Arsenal or in the clubs of that calibre are more judged on their mistakes. Because we will always be more in danger in our situation, but we enjoy ourselves more."

Koscielny has not yet won a league title with Arsenal, but has lifted two FA Cups.
