New signing Lukas Podolski has revealed that he is keen for Arsenal to retain the services of Robin van Persie.
The skipper's days at the Emirates Stadium appear to be numbered following his recent revelation that he would not be extending his contract, which has 12 months left to run.
Despite the uncertainty regarding the Dutch international's future, Podolski has admitted that he would like to get the opportunity to form a strike partnership with the 28-year-old.
"All I can say is Van Persie had an amazing record last season and hopefully there is a way he can stay with Arsenal," he told ESPN. "It would be great to play with him, but obviously this is not in my control."
Podolski joined the Gunners earlier this summer from FC Koln.
