Arsenal make enquiry for Real Madrid defender Alvaro Arbeloa?

Former Liverpool defender Alvaro Arbeloa could make a return to the Premier League this summer, with Arsenal said to be interested in signing the Spaniard.

Real Madrid defender Alvaro Arbeloa has emerged as a surprise reported target for Arsenal.

The 32-year-old, who has previously spent two years at Premier League rivals Liverpool, is expected to leave the Spanish giants at the end of the campaign, with a return to England on the cards.

It is claimed by The Metro that the Gunners have made an offer to sign the full-back, although Napoli are also said to be interested, while Brendan Rodgers could himself make an approach for the former Anfield favourite.

Arbeloa, capped 56 times by Spain across a five-year international career, is thought to be valued at around £3.6m.
