Brighton & Hove Albion are said to be in advanced talks over a potential club-record deal for Genk captain Leandro Trossard.

Brighton & Hove Albion are thought to be in advanced talks to sign Genk skipper Leandro Trossard.

The 24-year-old, who plays as a winger, has previously been courted by Arsenal but the Seagulls are now poised to secure his signature in what could be a club-record deal.

According to Sky Sports News, Genk rejected a first offer for the Belgian on Friday but talks have now resumed over a deal that could be worth €20m (£17.9m), surpassing the £17m spent on Alireza Jahanbakhsh last summer.

Trossard is a product of the Genk youth system and was on fire for the Pro League champions last term, scoring 22 goals in all competitions.

Having narrowly scraped survival last year, Brighton are expected to make significant investment this summer under new boss Graham Potter.
