Chelsea and Arsenal are reportedly interested in securing a deal for Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng.

Chelsea and Arsenal reportedly hold an interest in signing Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng.

With both clubs having been less than impressive at the back this season, defensive additions are expected to be made during the next transfer window.

According to FootMercato, the two London outfits have identified Germany international Boateng as a potential target.

Despite making 21 outings in the Bundesliga and Champions League this season, the 31-year-old has previously spoken about taking on a new challenge.

As a result of just over a year remaining on his contract, the former Manchester City man is regarded as an attractive option.

Bayern may also be open to cashing in on their long-serving player in order to raise funds for new players.
