Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere drops his strongest hint yet that his 17-year stay at the club could come to an end when his contract expires later this month.

Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has dropped a strong hint that his time at the club could be over as he edges closer to the end of his contract.

Wilshere has been with the Gunners since the age of nine, joining his boyhood club in 2001 and going on to make almost 200 first-team appearances for the North London outfit.

However, the 26-year-old's contract is due to expire at the end of this month and talks over an extension have so far failed to see the two parties reach an agreement.

Wilshere has now made his strongest suggestion yet that he could end his 17-year association with the club, posting a quote on his Instagram story which read: "There comes a time when you have to choose between turning the page and closing the book."

New Arsenal boss Unai Emery is understood to be keen on keeping Wilshere at the Emirates Stadium, but the midfielder has not been given the assurances he is seeking over playing time and the club's pursuit of Lucas Torreira has reportedly convinced him to leave.

A number of clubs in Italy have been linked with signing Wilshere on a free transfer, including Juventus and AC Milan.
