Aston Villa, Swansea City play out draw at Villa Park

Aston Villa and Swansea City cannot be separated at Villa Park in today's Premier League match.

Swansea City have secured a 1-1 draw against Aston Villa in their Premier League match this afternoon.

It was a scrappy start to the afternoon with both sides unable to keep possession for any substantial time.

Leandro Bacuna sent in a dangerous cross, but Gabriel Agbonlahor was unable to reach it. Roland Lamah then had an effort blocked for the visitors, but Villa were soon ahead.

Andreas Weimann played the ball in behind the defence for Agbonlahor to run on to, and the striker made no mistake with his finish, slotting the ball past Gerhard Tremmel.

Despite falling behind, Swansea had the majority of the ball and created a decent chance with a speedy counter attack. Pablo Hernandez beat one man to create space before firing a shot at Brad Guzan.

The visitors had an even better chance to equalise a few minutes later. A corner was swung in and Ben Davies was unmarked around seven yards out. However, he headed the ball into the ground and over the bar.

However, Michael Laudrup's side were level 10 minutes before the break. Hernandez received the ball on the left and delivered a cross to the back post, where Lamah was waiting to nod it past Guzan in the Villa goal.

Swansea had the first attempt of the second half, as Jonathan de Guzman struck a free kick which Guzan had to tip over the bar.

A rare Villa attack saw Weimann hit a long-range half volley as he tried to catch Tremmel off guard, but the Swansea goalkeeper was alert to the danger and made a comfortable stop.

The away side continued to have the majority of the ball and Jonjo Shelvey had Guzan worried with a right-footed shot. Antonio Luna managed to get a block in, however, and the deflection took the ball to Nathan Baker, who was able to clear.

Fabian Delph had a late effort from range as he pushed forward with no Swansea player near him, but Tremmel was equal to it and collected at the second attempt.
