Barnsley's move for David Davis of Wolverhampton Wanderers collapses

Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder David Davis sees his proposed loan move to recently-relegated Barnsley break down over a failure to agree personal terms.

Barnsley's negotiations to sign David Davis on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers have broken down over personal terms.

Wolves boss Kenny Jackett revealed last week that he expected the central midfielder to leave Molineux this summer in search of more regular first-team action.

However, Barnsley have pulled out of a six-month deal for Davis and Jackett has admitted that the 23-year-old's immediate future appears to be at Wolves, with no other suitors in the pipeline.

Jackett said in the Express & Star: "Nothing's been agreed with Barnsley or ourselves and at present he's still a Wolves player. Whether Barnsley will come back in the future, I don't know.

"It was going to be a loan deal, but it's down to terms rather than football. They did discuss a potential sale as well, after the loan, but the basis of it was a loan and terms haven't been agreed.

"Dave is with us and training. There's no other interest in him at the moment."

Davis, who made just 12 League One starts last season, only has one year remaining on his current Wolves contract.
