Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson returns to training after six-month layoff

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe confirms that Callum Wilson has returned to training following six months out with a knee injury.

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe has revealed that striker Callum Wilson has returned to training following a six-month spell on the sidelines with cruciate ligament damage.

The 24-year-old was struck down with the injury in September during the Cherries' 2-1 defeat to Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium.

Wilson is now on course to return to action before the end of the season, but Howe has insisted that he will not rush him back.

"I am still cautious with [Wilson] because I am thinking of his long-term future," Howe told reporters in Friday's press conference. "Although the knee looks good he knows there's still some time until it can stand up to the rigours of the Premier League.

"But there is no pressure from our side. When he is ready, we'll know and he'll know. We'd love to see him back in a Bournemouth shirt before the end of the season."

Meanwhile, long-term absentee Tyrone Mings has suffered a "slight setback" in his recovery from a knee injury and is not expected to feature again until the start of next season.
