Former Arsenal stopper Manuel Almunia is believed to be close to joining Italian side Cagliari.
The Spaniard is a free agent, having left Watford earlier this summer after two years at Vicarage Road.
Cagliari president Tomasso Giulini told Sky Sport Italia that the club are poised to sign a goalkeeper with Champions League experience, and Almunia was reportedly spotted in Sardinia on Tuesday.
The 37-year-old is expected to sign a contract with the Serie A outfit in the next 24 hours.
Almunia played 39 times for Arsenal in the Champions League, including as a substitute in the 2006 final. He made 175 appearances in total for the Gunners between 2004 and 2012.
