Sports Mole looks at the possible opponents holders Chelsea could be drawn against in the last 16 of the Champions League.

Holders Chelsea are likely to face a more difficult passage through the latter stages of the Champions League having only managed a runners-up finish in Group H.

A dramatic 3-3 draw with Zenit St Petersburg on matchday six saw Thomas Tuchel's side pipped to top spot by Juventus, with the Blues winning four, drawing one and losing one of their six outings in a group which also included Malmo.

If Chelsea are to join the elite club of back-to-back Champions League winners then they will likely be forced to do it the hard way, with a last-16 showdown against a seeded team now guaranteed.

However, no team can be drawn against a team from the same country, nor against a club they have already faced in the group stages.

As it happens, that limits Chelsea to only four possible opponents in the last 16, with group winners Juventus, Liverpool and Manchester United all ruled out.

Two of Europe's biggest clubs could still lie in store, though, with Real Madrid and a repeat of the 2012 final against Bayern Munich both possible outcomes.

Tuchel's men could also be drawn against Ajax, who went through the group stage with a perfect record, or Lille, who arguably represent the easiest draw on paper.

The draw will take place at UEFA's Nyon headquarters at 11am GMT on Monday, December 13. You can find out everything you need to know about the draw by clicking here.
