A high-class journeyman who had already played for four different Premier League clubs before joining Chelsea in 2008, Nicolas Anelka spent longer at Stamford Bridge than he did at any of his other 12 clubs.
Having joined from Bolton Wanderers in January, Anelka's Chelsea career got off to a slow start with just one goal in 14 league games during the second half of the 2007-08 campaign, although he made up for that by winning the Premier League's Golden Boot in his first full season at the club having scored 19 times.
That season ended in FA Cup glory, with Anelka the top scorer in that competition too, and Chelsea went one better the following campaign as they won their first ever Premier League and FA Cup double.
The Frenchman left Stamford Bridge after four years in January 2012, by which time he had scored 38 goals in 125 Premier League games for the club.
