Leeds United manager Neil Warnock believes that Roberto Di Matteo should be "delighted" to leave Chelsea after his success at the club.

Leeds United manager Neil Warnock has insisted that Roberto Di Matteo should be proud of the work he did at Chelsea.

Di Matteo was dismissed as Chelsea boss on Wednesday to be replaced by former Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez.

Warnock believes that the Italian should be "delighted" that he has been relieved of his duties at Stamford Bridge.

Warnock told reporters: "I think I would be absolutely delighted if I were him, because he was never going to be the manager.

"He's taken the job on and won the Champions League and the FA Cup, which nobody can take away from him."

Chelsea travel to Elland Road to face Leeds in the Capital One Cup in December.
