Fiorentina have announced that defender Marcos Alonso has left the club to join Chelsea.
The Blues have been trying to strengthen their backline all summer and with six hours left before the end of the transfer window, they have finally pushed through a deal which is said to be in the region of £23m.
Alonso leaves the Serie A outfit having scored five goals in 84 appearances in all competitions.
Antonio Conte is also hoping to add Paris Saint-Germain's David Luiz to his defensive ranks, with the former Chelsea defender said to be closing in on a return to West London.
