Chelsea have refused to comment on speculation that the club are prepared to perform a U-turn and offer midfielder Frank Lampard a new contract.
The 34-year-old, who was expected to be shown the door at Stamford Bridge at the end of the season, is thought to have undergone early talks with the West London outfit over a fresh deal.
"Chelsea does not comment on speculation about players or their contracts," head of communications Steve Atkins told Sky Sports News.
Lampard, who scored the winner in England's 2-1 victory over Brazil at Wembley last night, comes to the end of his current contract in the summer.
