Chelsea will reportedly have to pay £5m if they wish to sign Derby County youngster Max Bird during the next transfer window.

Chelsea have reportedly identified Derby County midfielder Max Bird as a potential signing for the next transfer window.

The 19-year-old has already been provided with 27 outings for the Rams, which includes 13 starts in the Championship.

With the academy graduate having an increasing influence in the first team, Football Insider claims that Chelsea are monitoring his development.

The report says that the Blues have been quoted a fee of £5m for Bird, who has just over two years remaining on his contract.

Having left Pride Park for Stamford Bridge as recently as last summer, Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is no stranger to working with Bird.
