Chelsea have reportedly made Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann their number one target ahead of the January transfer window.
Jose Mourinho's side lost 1-0 at home to newly-promoted Bournemouth on Saturday to slip to their eighth defeat of the season and leave them just three points clear of the relegation zone after 15 matches.
Only five Premier League sides have scored fewer goals this season than the defending champions, yet Mourinho chose to leave out primary striker Diego Costa once more in favour of using Eden Hazard as the most advanced player in attack, amid continued speculation of a rift between the Spanish striker and his manager.
According to The Mirror, the Portuguese boss is determine to strengthen his attacking options and is focusing on bringing 24-year-old Griezmann to Stamford Bridge when the transfer window opens next month.
The paper claims that Griezmann, who has scored 12 goals in 23 appearances for club and country this season, is rated at more than £25m by Atletico, and that Chelsea are also monitoring West Bromwich Albion striker Saido Berahino as a backup option if a deal for the Frenchman does not materialise.
