Daniel Sturridge has reportedly told Chelsea that he wants to be reassured of his worth to the team ahead of the new season.
The 22-year-old, who is currently competing at the Olympics with Team GB, enjoyed a good start to last campaign under Andre Villas-Boas but his form suffered after the Portuguese manager's departure in March.
Sturridge is believed to be concerned about his place in Roberto Di Matteo's side and is now eager for negotiations regarding his future, according to The Metro.
Tottenham Hotspur are understood to be interested in the forward and a reunion with Villas-Boas could prove to be a tempting move for both parties.
Di Matteo is expected to hold talks with Sturridge after the Olympics.
