Crystal Palace defender Brede Hangeland has expressed his belief that teammate Scott Dann is not far away from being called up to the England squad.
The 27-year-old centre-back was allegedly watched by members of the Three Lions coaching staff during the 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa in December, when a mistake from Dann allowed Christian Benteke to score the winning goal.
However, Hangeland believes that Dann has been in strong form for the Eagles since and deserves a chance to play international football.
"Scott is a top player and a pleasure to play with," Hangeland told the Croydon Advertiser. "For me, he can't be far away from a sniff at the England team.
"He has been playing really well for a while now. He's a good player, but it's not for me to decide. I've seen loads of players over the years and he's certainly an honest lad who tries his best to improve all the time.
"He is in that golden age where he can still improve, too. I would be delighted if he was given a go."
Dann has made 24 appearances for Palace this term, scoring three goals in the process.
