Eagles take on Brighton this week.

Roy Hodgson hopes his Crystal Palace side can build on last Saturday's victory over Burnley in Tuesday night's Premier League clash with rivals Brighton.

The Eagles earned a 2-0 win at Selhurst Park, scoring in open play at home for the first time this season, ending an eight-match winless run in the league.

Hodgson told a media conference on Monday: "I believe the team has been playing well for a period of time, and it was nice to see us get the result on Saturday. We are capable of playing good football.

"We're excited for the derby. We're excited for every game, but this one is particularly special for our fans – we're fully aware of that. The only way to satisfy them is to play well and win."

Hodgson praised Brighton counterpart Chris Hughton and expects a difficult test on the south coast.

He added: "He's done exceptionally well. They are having a good season. They are a solid team and hard to beat.

"Eighteen points is a good total so far, so our task is a tough one against a good team. We hope to give them as many problems as we can."

One player who has been excelling for the Seagulls is Glenn Murray. The former Palace striker has scored seven goals this term.

Hodgson, who described himself as "very impressed" with Murray, said: "He left an incredibly good memory here at Crystal Palace.

"Everyone admires what he has done, not only for Palace, but also now for Brighton.

"He's obviously one of the main weapons Brighton have in their armoury and one we'll have to pay very close attention to."

Hodgson has no personnel changes to his squad and may resist rotating his starting XI.

Only striker Christian Benteke (knee) is out.
