Crystal Palace 'pulled plug on Norwich City's Dwight Gayle deal'

Crystal Palace pulled the plug on Dwight Gayle's transfer to Norwich City at the last minute due partly to a training injury to Connor Wickham, according to a report.

Crystal Palace pulled the plug on Dwight Gayle's proposed move to Norwich City at the last minute, according to reports.

The Canaries had made a late move for the 24-year-old and the striker is believed to have already agreed personal terms before Palace withdrew from the transfer.

HITC claims that the reason for the Eagles' cold feet over the deal was due to a combination of Connor Wickham picking up an injury in training and Glenn Murray completing a move to Bournemouth earlier on Tuesday.

Alan Pardew's side were allegedly unwilling to sanction a move for Gayle as it would have left them short of attacking options.

Gayle joined Palace from Peterborough United two years ago and has scored 20 goals in 56 games in all competitions for the club, but has featured just once in the Premier League so far this season.
