Everton midfielder James McCarthy is expected to miss several weeks after tearing his hamstring during training.
The 25-year-old's campaign has already been heavily disrupted by injury, having only recently returned from a groin problem.
Everton boss Ronald Koeman recently criticised the Republic of Ireland for 'massively overloading' the player after he started two World Cup qualifiers in the space of four days earlier this month.
Those were McCarthy's first appearances since August 23, and he was limited to a short cameo for Everton during their recent 1-1 draw with Manchester City.
However, he missed Saturday's late defeat to Burnley through injury and is likely to be out for a few weeks due to his latest setback, according to The Guardian.
The Toffees will look to end a five-match winless streak when they host West Ham United this weekend.
