Afternoon all! We have another round of Premier League fixtures to bring you, and this weekend it is the reverse matches from the opening day of the season. Right here, we'll be focusing on the clash between Everton and Norwich City at Goodison Park.

Before we hear the teams for today's encounter, let's journey back to the match that kicked off both clubs' campaigns in August. Norwich were able to come from 2-1 down to snatch a 2-2 draw at Carrow Road, courtesy of a goal from summer arrival Ricky van Wolfswinkel.

At that time, both teams were on a level playing field, but as the season has progressed, it is clear which club has been on the up. Everton have thrived under Roberto Martinez in his first season in charge. They currently sit fifth in the Premier League table having suffered just two defeats in 20 games.

At the other end of the spectrum, Norwich have struggled to maintain form, and currently find themselves just three points above relegation. Manager Chris Hughton has witnessed his side succumb to 10 defeats in the Premier League, two of which recently came against Fulham and Manchester United. However, they have steadied the ship by securing a 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace on New Year's Day.

We're still awaiting the team news from the home side at Goodison Park, but the Norwich lineup has just filtered through...

Hughton has made three changes to the side that grabbed a point against Palace. Michael Turner, Wes Hoolahan and Nathan Redmond all make way for Ryan Bennett, Javier Garrido and Ricky van Wolfswinkel.

The Everton team news has just been released. Their lineup is as follows...

Martinez has made two changes from the side that drew 1-1 with Stoke City on New Year's Day. It's good news in terms of the defence as Phil Jagielka returns to the back four, resulting in Antolin Alcaraz missing out. There's no place for Ross Barkley in midfield - instead, Leon Osman has come into the fold.

Unfortunately for the Merseyside outfit, it appears that Barkley has failed to overcome a knock he suffered during FA Cup action against Queens Park Rangers last weekend. The midfielder is out of the squad completely, as is Alcaraz.

For Norwich, Leroy Fer has returned to the lineup following a one-match suspension, while Hoolahan has been given a spot on the bench after sitting out the Canaries' draw with Fulham in the FA Cup third round last weekend.

Speaking of Hoolahan, the midfielder has been linked with a possible exit from Carrow Road following reported interest from Aston Villa. The club were swift to deny that the player has asked for a transfer request, but I'm sure it won't be the last we hear of this story! We're only 11 days into the winter transfer window, so watch this space.

We're around 30 minutes away from kickoff and Hughton has already been speaking to the press. The club's official Twitter page has quoted the manager as saying: "It has to be about ourselves today. We need to do the right things to win the game."

I think it's safe to say that Everton are overwhelming favourites for the encounter given that they have a very strong record at home - just one defeat out of 10 games at Goodison Park. They may have drew their last clash, but you would count on them getting all three points this afternoon.

However, there is some cause for optimism for Norwich as they are unbeaten against Everton in their last five meetings in the Premier League. Although, the Canaries have not won at Goodison Park for 20 years. So, is a draw their best hope? On paper, you would assume as much, but, we all know that records and stats go out of the window once the whistle blows.

So, how will potential results affect the clubs' positions in the table? If Everton win today, they can snatch fourth place from their Merseyside rivals Liverpool, who do not play until tomorrow. For Norwich, they could potentially move into 11th with a victory given that neither Aston Villa, Swansea City or Stoke City play today. However, that will depend on how West Bromwich Albion get on against Southampton this afternoon.

A draw for either side will keep Everton in fifth and Norwich in 15th spot.

We're just over 10 minutes away from kickoff now, so I think it's time for some predictions. My colleague Joe Fish gave Everton a 3-0 win in his preview this week, and it's hard to argue with that! For me though, I'm going to give Norwich a goal, but Everton all three points. I predict a 2-1 scoreline at Goodison.

Norwich are in need of some points this afternoon, so a win would definitely calm any relegation fears. For Everton, is it possible to look as far as Champions League football? Martinez said in his press conference this week that he isn't getting carried away as there is still a long way to go, but with them sitting just one point off fourth place after the Christmas period, it's not unrealistic.

BREAKING NEWS! Just minutes before kickoff, Everton have decided to unveil their first signing of the January window. It's not that much of a shock as reports have been rife regarding his arrival, but Aiden McGeady is now an Everton player. The Irish international has signed a four-and-a-half-year deal at Goodison.

Right, the teams are out on the pitch, the obligatory handshakes are done, so we'll be kicking off shortly.

GAME ON! Norwich get us underway, kicking from left to right.

It's a strong start from Everton. They've taken control of the ball in these early stages, knocking it around the midfield and using Baines on the left, who knocks a cross into the box, but none of his teammates are able to latch onto it.

Bennett lumps the ball towards Hooper up top, but Jagielka gets there first to win back possession for Everton.

Coleman, who has scored four goals in his last six games, goes for a shot at Ruddy's nearpost, but the Norwich keeper drops down in time to gather the ball with ease.

Garrido threads the ball into the path of Johnson, but Stones gets there in time to intercept and knock the ball back to Howard.

Whittaker searches for Snodgrass with a ball over the top, but his pass just bobbles ahead of him and Everton's defence are able to clear.

At the other end, Coleman passes the ball low to Lukaku in the box, but as he turns, he loses his control over the ball, which gets picked up and hammered away by Bennett.

Lukaku drops back to pick up a Coleman pass. The Belgium international moves inside and takes a shot just outside of the 18-yard box, but it's off target and just dribbles wide of the post.

Everton's pass-and-move style is prevalent in these early stages, but Norwich have shown some threat on the break, and they're continuing to close down Everton's defence in a bid to put on some pressure.

CHANCE! Dear oh dear, what a huge chance for Lukaku! Everton should be a goal to the good. Baines launches a cross into the box from the left looking for the striker, who drives towards the corner of the goal to latch onto the ball with his head. He manages to meet the ball, but completely misses the target from a yard out.

Norwich get a chance to calm things down and have some possession after Pienaar brings down Johnson in their own half.

CHANCE! Lukaku may have just missed a sitter, but Hooper has just spurned a chance for Norwich. A perfectly well-timed ball is lofted into the box for Hooper, but Howard manages to come off his line just in time to stop the forward's run after a poor first touch from Hooper.

It could and should be 1-1 after 16 minutes!

Garrido is forced to knock away a loose ball in the box following an Everton corner. No blue shirts were able to find the open space after the ball was hoofed in.

Norwich counter with Johnson, but his ball towards Hooper is intercepted by McCarthy, who calls a stop to the away side's attack.

Mirallas goes for a wonder goal, but his long-range shot gets deflected over the bar. Everton get the corner, but it comes to nothing.

What a sensational goal from Gareth Barry! Lukaku holds up the ball and knocks it in front to Barry, who surges towards the corner of the box and unleashes a shot from distance, which swerves past Ruddy and into the left side of the net. One to remember for the midfielder!

Everton are fully on control now. Some one-touch passing from Mirallas and Osman, eventually finds Baines, who crosses into the box but it's easily blocked.

SAVE! At the other end, it's another positive counter-attack from Norwich, who eventually find Wolfswinkel on the corner of the box. The forward goes for a curling shot towards the left corner of the net, but Howard goes full stretch to keep the ball out.

Everton go on the attack again. Barry launches a swerving cross into the box, which Olsson gets to first. It's a difficult one for the defender due to the pace on it, but he manages to knock it over the bar instead of accidentally into his own net.

Thankfully for Van Wolfswinkel, Everton didn't make the most of his mistake. The forward's pass goes straight to Lukaku in the box. The Belgian passes back to Osman, who goes for the shot, but it flies over the bar.

Pienaar wins a free kick for Everton just yards away from the box on the left side of the final third after getting brought down by Snodgrass.

Mirallas takes the free kick with a swinging ball into the box, but a diving clearance from Bassong let's Norwich breathe again.

CHANCE! The chances keep on coming for Everton! Firstly, Baines launches a low cross into the box from the left. Mirallas stretches, but fails to latch onto it. He gets another chance seconds later, but he is unable to wrap his foot around the ball and it bobbles away from him. Coleman then grabs onto the free ball and blasts it towards the top left-hand corner two yards away from the nearpost, but he misses the target.

It's wave upon wave of attack from Everton at the moment. I can barely keep up, I'm not sure how Norwich are!

Norwich get some rest time, but instead of working it through the midfield, they continue to search up top for Van Wolfswinkel and Hooper. Unfortunately for the visitors, Everton's defenders are getting to the ball first.

Mirallas moves to the left and whips a low ball across the face of goal, but none of his teammates are able to latch onto it, and the chance goes missing.

Pienaar is getting frustrated with Snodgrass. The Everton midfielder is brought down for the third time in this half by the Norwich player, but referee Kevin Friend is yet to issue a yellow card.

BOOKING! Everton youngster Stones is given a yellow card for the follow-through after a lunging challenge on Johnson.

CHANCE! It's a bit hectic in Everton's box as we reach the close of the first half. The ball is lofted over the top to find the path of Hooper, but Howard comes off his live to get there first and keep Everton's lead.

Phew, time to breathe! As it stands, Everton are going to take all three points at Goodison Park this afternoon with their one-goal lead over Norwich. Martinez's men have so far delivered another impressive performance, with their tempo and intensity preventing the Canaries from imposing their own game on the pitch.

Gareth Barry has given the Merseyside outfit the lead with a wonderful individual goal, but Everton's team performance has ensured their dominance in this fixture. The pace of their game has been something that Norwich have struggled to handle. However, the Canaries have down well so far in keeping the scoreline to just one.

In terms of Norwich's attack, as the half progressed, they seemed to abandon plans to work through the midfield, and instead opted to search for Van Wolfswinkel and Hooper up top. Unfortunately for them, Everton's defenders have been first to the ball the majority of the time.

That being said, Norwich have looked dangerous on the counter-attack. If it weren't for a few poor first touches from Hooper, the Canaries could have found themselves a goal or two.

Everton are more than capable of adding to their lead in the second half, but I wouldn't rule out a Norwich goal if they are given enough time on the ball in the second half. A 1-0 lead is never safe, which sets up the second half nicely!

Both teams are emerging on the field ready for the second 45 minutes.

SECOND HALF UNDERWAY! Everton begin proceedings, kicking from left to right.

Norwich are forced into some early defending in this second half as Pienaar and Baines pile on the pressure on the left. The ball is pushed back to Jagielka, who launches a shot from just outside the corner of the box, but it flies high over the bar.

Everton have started how the finished off the first half. They have complete control of the midfield.

Everton move into the final third once again. Baines battles with Whittaker on the left-hand side of the box, but the Norwich defender holds firm and ball goes out for a goal kick.

Norwich have had two attacks flagged offside in the space of a few minutes. Van Wolfswinkel and Garrido have both been in the wrong positions. It's little things like that, that will prevent Norwich from getting back into this game.

At the other end, Everton probe once again. This time Mirallas pulls the ball back for McCarthy outside of the box. the midfielder launches a swerving shot towards goal, but it takes a deflection and goes out of play.

Everton work the ball down the left once again with a little give-and-go between Pienaar and Mirallas. The Belgian ends up with the ball just yards outside of the area, but his effort soars over the bar.

CHANCE! With some better composure, Van Wolfswinkel could have equalised for Norwich there. The ball falls into his path in the box when he tries to knock it into the top left-hand corner. It's a tight angle, but he should have done better from that close distance.

Everton have doubled their lead courtesy of a wonderful free kick from Mirallas. The Belgium international's swerving effort goes over the wall and into the top left-hand corner, with Ruddy going the right way but fails to get enough on it to prevent the goal.

SAVE! A ball over the top from Barry finds the feet of Lukaku, who gets away from his marker and hammers a low shot towards goal, but Ruddy dives down to grab the ball and stop Everton from getting a third.

BOOKING! Bennett gets cautioned by the referee for tackling Coleman and trapping the Everton player with his follow-through.

GOAL DISALLOWED! Lukaku finds the back of the net after moving around the oncoming Ruddy and strolling the ball past the line. However, as the ball is played across to Lukaku, the Belgium international is stood in an offside position. It takes Lukaku a while to realise, though!

SUBSTITUTION Norwich make their first change with Garrido making way for Nathan Redmond.

Mirallas lofts the ball towards Baines on the left side of the box. He feeds it across goal, looking for Lukaku, but Bennett gets to it first and knocks it out for an Everton corner, which comes to nothing.

SUBSTITUTION Everton make their first change of the clash as Osman's time on the field comes to an end. Johnny Heitinga comes on to replace him.

Norwich get a rare spell of possession, which results in a corner. Snodgrass swings the ball in, but Everton get a free kick after some pushing and shoving from yellow shirts.

SUBSTITUTION Pienaar makes way for Steven Naismith. Everton have one more change available.

SAVE! Redmond goes it alone in the box and nips past two Everton players, but his shot from close range towards the nearpost is blocked by Howard.

Naismith gets into space as he surges towards the box, but instead of unleashing a shot, he squares it to Mirallas, but the Belgian runs over the ball and the attack comes to an end.

Johnson tries his luck at the other end after driving into the box, but his left-footed shot soars past the post.

OFF THE POST! Norwich are trying to find their way back into this game. The ball gets crossed into the box to find Snodgrass. He heads the ball down towards goal, but it bounces in front of Howard and hits the corner of the post.

This is a good spell of pressure from Norwich with 10 minutes to go. Everton are all back defending in their own half.

Barry nicks the ball back for Everton as they try to calm things down by passing it around in midfield.

CHANCE! Norwich get another opportunity to get on the scoresheet, but Van Wolfswinkel's shot just flies wide after his a mix-up with teammate Hooper.

It's been a frustrating afternoon for Norwich, but they've been unable to take their chances when it counted.

SUBSTITUTION Van Wolfswinkel's wait for a goal continues as he's taken off the field and replaced with Murphy.

BOOKING! Bassong gets himself in the book for reacting angrily to the referee's decision not to award the Canaries a corner.

Everton are slowing play down by knocking the ball around midfield. There are just over two minutes left to play.

So, there we have it. Everton have moved above their Merseyside rivals Liverpool into fourth place in the table courtesy of a 2-0 win over Norwich. You can't argue with where the three points lie as, once again, the Toffees took control of the park and took their chances when needed.

Norwich's late flurry of attempts within the final 10 minutes of the game could have seen them get on the scoresheet, but the damage had already been down once Mirallas netted the second after the break. As a result of this game, Norwich remain 15th in the standings.
