Everton boss David Moyes has said that Royston Drenthe cannot afford to count on protection from referees.
The Scot, who admits that the Dutch international has been the subject of rough treatment in the Premier League, insists that he must learn to not let it affect him unless the referee blows his whistle.
"He needs to get on with it," said the Scot. "He needs get up after he goes down and run back.
"Once he does go down he needs to be straight back on his feet. He can't be looking and waiting on referees to give him fouls.
"We can't be a man short in that period after he's gone down."
The Toffees remain in 10th place in the Premier League ahead of this afternoon's games.
