Hannover coach Tayfun Korkut has said that the club do not want to sell Stoke City target Mame Biram Diouf.
The Potters have been linked with the former Manchester United forward, who joined the German side in January 2012.
However, Korkut said that the 26-year-old is a key asset at the HDI-Arena.
"If we have quality, we should protect them," he told Deutsche Presseagentur.
"It would not be easy to fund a replacement and I do not get the impression that Mame's thoughts are somewhere else."
The Senegalese forward has struck five goals in 12 appearances in the Bundesliga this season.
