Chris Powell: 'I never feared for my job'

Huddersfield Town boss Chris Powell reveals that he was not concerned about losing his job, despite his side failing to win any of their first six games of the season.

Huddersfield Town manager Chris Powell has revealed that he was not worried about losing his job, despite his side failing to win any of their first six games of the Championship season.

The Terriers collected their first three points of the campaign at the seventh attempt on Tuesday evening as they won 2-1 at Powell's former side Charlton Athletic.

Powell has said that he was always confident that the team's fortunes would improve.

"I've always known that we've been close, but it has been a tough period," he told BBC Radio Leeds.

"I didn't fear for my future. I've always had belief in this group of players. I think sometimes people don't realise how big the changes have been here.

"As a manager if you lose your head when all of that is happening then you are going to be in trouble. What you have to do is show the players you believe in them."

The win has moved Huddersfield up to 20th in the table.
