Mick McCarthy bemoans "soft" Norwich City goal

Ipswich Town boss Mick McCarthy admits that his side conceded a "soft goal" in their narrow Championship defeat to local rivals Norwich.

Ipswich Town boss Mick McCarthy has admitted that it was a "soft goal" that saw his side lose to Norwich City in the Championship.

The Tractor Boys were beaten 1-0 by their local rivals at Portman Road on Saturday thanks to Lewis Grabban's header from a corner on 24 minutes.

Grabban took advantage of some confusion in the Ipswich box before nodding past goalkeeper Dean Gerken.

"The game wasn't going anywhere until we conceded a soft goal from a corner," McCarthy told the club's official website. "That changed the course of the game. They were better after the goal and for 10 minutes, we were all over the place.

"Norwich are a good side, they have just come down from the Premier League and have got some very good players. There is no disgrace in losing to them, it's just it hurts more to lose your nearest and not so dearest!"

Ipswich continue their Championship campaign next Saturday with a trip to Derby County.
